As a former fly shop manager for a store on the west coast of Florida, I understand how difficult it can be to find flies for our fish. I also noticed that the flies we got from the mass production companies often did not meet the standards necessary for the harsh conditions imposed on the flies by the saltwater. The Salty Bug was created to provide premium hand tied flies to the growing saltwater fly fishing population in Florida. As a Florida based company and Florida based fisherman, we saw the need for someone to offer flies specific for our area. Our goal is to ensure that when you receive a fly from The Salty Bug you have faith that every wrap of the thread is tight and all the materials are the highest quality. With 25 years fishing experience in Florida and abroad, we do our best to stay on the cutting edge and we are constantly tweaking patterns and coming up with new ones in order to remain successful. I understand that we can not provide every fly in every color. We love tying new stuff and are more than happy to fill custom orders.
